This summer, the FHH celebrated its 20th anniversary with a momentous gathering at the Ritz-Carlton in Geneva and its historic headquarters at Pont de la Machine. More than an anniversary, it was a moment of renewal, of opening up the world of watchmaking to new audiences, new ideas and a new future. 

Cyrille Vigneron, Chairman of Culture and Philanthropy at Cartier, offered a sentiment that resonated deeply: “Culture gives the industry its meaning. The FHH ensures watchmaking remains rooted in civilisation.”    

Over the past 20 years, the foundation has worked to democratise horological knowledge while safeguarding its depth. The FHH Academy has trained over 40,000 individuals and issued more than 15,000 certifications, serving not just professionals but now through digital platforms enthusiasts and newcomers around the world.

Whether through educational programmes, exhibitions, roundtables and summits, the FHH has carried the weight of tradition while planting seeds for a more inclusive, accessible and globally aware watchmaking culture.

To have been a part of this journey, first as a Mission Delegate for India and now as a Consultant, has been one of the most fulfilling and defining privileges of my career. My understanding of fine watchmaking, my appreciation for its intricacies, and my ability to engage with its deeper meaning are all thanks to the time I have spent with The FHH.

More than just a professional affiliation, this has been a deeply personal experience. It has shaped my perspective, enriched my understanding of fine watchmaking and allowed me to witness its cultural legacy from the inside. I owe a deep sense of gratitude to the FHH, not only for the knowledge it has  imparted, but for the values it stands for.

A New Chapter: Watchmaking Knowledge For All

The 20th anniversary was marked not just with celebration, but with bold new beginnings:

1. FHH Boutique: A new digital platform offering expert training content to the public for the first time, a democratic evolution in watch education.
2. ‘Watch Makers’ Exhibition: A free, hands-on show featuring 30 partner brands, aimed at making fine watchmaking tangible for everyone.
3. Expanded Programming: With Watches and Culture events held in Paris and London, the FHH will bring its Forum to New York City in October, complete with masterclasses and a public podcast series.

The foundation’s new motto, Watchmaking Knowledge For All, signals a shift toward building bridges between industry and community.

As the Fondation Haute Horlogerie steps into its third decade, its vision is not only intact but reinvigorated. No longer confined to the walls of a museum or museum, the culture of watchmaking is being shaped and shared by a global audience. For those of us who have walked beside the institution and grown because of it, the journey ahead is as exciting as the one behind. Conceived as a tribute to 225 years of Jaipur’s iconic Hawa Mahal, JALSA represents the pinnacle of Titan’s craftsmanship and ambition. The watch houses an in-house flying tourbillon movement made of 144 components and 14 jewels, a mechanical feat rarely achieved in India This precision engineered movement is enclosed in an 18K rose gold case and adorned with architectural bridges inlaid with red agate, a design detail both ornamental and structurally poetic. A sapphire magnifier on the minute hand brings an unexpected tactile poetry to the dial, which is visible through a crystal exhibition caseback.

JALSA is also Titan’s official entry to the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPGH 2025) the first time an Indian brand will compete at this prestigious global forum, often referred to as the Oscars of watchmaking. 

A Launch Rooted in Cultural Symbolism

The unveiling of JALSA took place in Jaipur, the city that inspired its conception. Hosted as an intimate sit-down dinner for select guests from the worlds of design, fashion, media and craftsmanship, the launch reflected the very philosophy of the watch, thoughtful, refined and deeply rooted in heritage. From the decor to the experience, every element was designed to immerse attendees in the story JALSA seeks to tell.

This year, Dubai Watch Week returns in full force, uniting over 90 of the world’s most prestigious watch brands across two iconic locations—The Dubai Mall and Burj Park. From independent maisons to heritage powerhouses, the lineup promises an unmatched deep dive into watchmaking’s finest.

In terms of the brands with the biggest presence at Dubai Watch Week 2025, I am excited to discover the Mighty brands like Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Tudor, Hublot, Chopard & Ferdinand Berthoud, Breitling, Girard-Perregaux, TAG Heuer, and Gerald Charles, to name but a few.

The longer list of exhibiting brands really demonstrates how serious Dubai Watch Week is about showcasing every aspect of horology, with major players like A. Lange & Söhne, F.P. Journe, Voutilainen and Bovet representing the top tier of horology. Then there are also some well-established brands, beloved by watch fans in attendance,  like Biver, Bremont, Czapek & Cie, Louis Erard, Nomos, Ressence, Triblobe, Ulysse Nardin and more. Then there are the new kids on the block, exciting up-and-comers like Studio Underd0g, ID Genève, Norqain, and dozens more. No matter what sort of watches you’re into, there will be something for everyone to be excited about at Dubai Watch Week.

For collectors, enthusiasts, industry insiders, and dreamers alike, this is the ultimate space where time isn’t just measured—it’s celebrated. Launched in 2020 by six pioneering brands—Breitling, Bvlgari, De Bethune, Girard-Perregaux, H. Moser & Cie., and MB&F—this event blossomed into a cornerstone of the watchmaking community. The beauty of Geneva Watch Days lay in its decentralized nature, allowing each Maison to craft its own unique experience across the city, whether in luxurious boutiques or charming hotels. Yet, the heart of it all remained the common pavilion at Rotonde du Mont-Blanc, where more than 100 extraordinary timepieces from 52 participating brands awaited discovery.

This was not just an exhibition; it was a celebration of high horology in a laid-back, festive atmosphere, where simplicity met elegance, and the passion for fine watchmaking shone through. With free access, Geneva Watch Days invited everyone—from seasoned collectors to curious newcomers—to immerse themselves in the world of exceptional timepieces and to connect with the stories behind the brands.

Brands introduced a range of captivating designs, from innovative new models to those honoring tradition. Here are some of the standout pieces that we believe are a must look for any watch enthusiast :

Breitling

Breitling marked its “140 Years of Firsts” with a groundbreaking release: perpetual calendar chronograph movement. To celebrate, the brand introduced limited 140th-anniversary editions of its iconic models — Premier, Navitimer, and Chronomat—all powered by the innovative Caliber B19. This movement offered unmatched precision for an entire century with minimal adjustments and boasted an impressive 96-hour power reserve. We love this watch because it powers through four days straight without needing a single wind.

Favre Leuba

Favre Leuba made a triumphant return, celebrating 287 years of horological mastery. The brand unveiled three new collections, comprising 22 fresh designs, to mark this momentous occasion. The Chief Collection was completely revamped, blending its signature vintage elements with a contemporary twist. The Chief Chronograph, a standout piece, retained the classic ‘70s design, refreshed with a sporty, modern edge, highlighted by its retro-inspired cushion shaped case. It’s such a stand-out piece, one instantly falls in love with it.

Bvlgari

Bvlgari redefined men’s watchmaking with its Octo series, merging tradition with a contemporary vision. Renowned for their expertise in horological acoustics, Bvlgari impressed once again with the Octo Roma Grande Sonnerie Tourbillon and Octo Roma Carillon Tourbillon minute repeater. These timepieces were inspired by the “tritone,” a musical interval that resonated with musicians, drawing creative cues from Lorenzo Viotti, the conductor of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra.

Konstantin Chaykin

Konstantin Chaykin made waves at the Geneva Watch Days 2024 with his latest creation—the ThinKing. At just 1.65 mm thick, it was the slimmest mechanical wristwatch ever made. This marvel was part of the “Wristmons” collection, featuring a joker-inspired dial with “eye” indicators for hours and minutes. ThinKing captured the attention of experts and the press alike, earning accolades from top global publications.

HYT

HYT’s Millésime Edition introduced bold new colors—Purple, Green, and Chocolate—adding a fresh, modern twist to its lineup. Launched in the fall, the T1 Series stood out with its sleek 45mm diameter and vertical grain satin-finished dial. Each hue was enhanced by HYT’s signature fluidic time displays, with vibrant red fluid for the green and chocolate models, and a striking black for the purple. Case options included titanium, DLC titanium, and 5N gold.

Oris

Oris became the Official Timekeeper for France’s Ligue 1 McDonald’s and Ligue 2 BKT, in collaboration with the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP). To celebrate, Oris launched the LFP Limited Edition Divers Sixty-Five, a tribute to the “Les Défenseurs de l’Enfance” football tournament, which supported children and CNAPE-backed charities. The watch featured playful, childlike script, a blue dial symbolizing the UN’s 17th goal, and a stainless steel case back engraved with the tournament’s logo. We appreciate the initiative and their drive for change. Their commitment to both craftsmanship and community truly sets them apart.

Angelus

Angelus introduced the Chronodate Titanium Magnetic Silver edition—a watch where grey reigned supreme. The titanium case and sunray-brushed “Magnetic Silver” dial created a monochromatic masterpiece, accentuated by deep black and a touch of red. This ultra-sporty and refined color scheme drew the eye, holding it in a captivating gaze.

De Bethune

De Bethune’s DB28xs Aérolite was a stunning fusion of art and science. The dial featured a unique guilloché pattern, offset by the geometric lines of Muonionalusta meteorite. This timepiece merged elements from the DB28xs Starry Seas and DB28XP Météorite models, pushing the boundaries of contemporary watchmaking. Encased in a 38.7 mm black matte zirconium case with a blue meteorite dial, it symbolized the union of earth and sky, craftsmanship and innovation.

MB&F

MB&F presented the M.A.D.1S, a sleek evolution of its popular M.A.D.1 model. The “S” signified a slimmer profile, with a case just 15mm thick, housing a new Swiss movement—the La Joux-Perret G101. The streamlined design featured refined lugs and an updated winding rotor. While the case retained its 42mm diameter, the thinner

Czapek & Cie

Czapek & Cie took its Antarctique collection to new heights with the Antarctique Polar Sky and Antarctique S Polar Sky models. These stunning timepieces featured aventurine glass dials, available in 40.5mm and 38.5mm sizes. For those craving extra luxury, the Antarctique Flying Diamonds and Antarctique S Flying Diamonds models came with diamond-set indexes and optional diamond-encrusted cases and bracelets. The Antarctique cut diamonds, with their 24 facets, amplified the dials’ brilliance. Limited to just 99, 77, 8, and 18 pieces. With such limited availability, these extraordinary pieces are sure to disappear quickly !

As Geneva Watch Days 2024 wrapped up, it was clear that the event was more than just a display of fine watches—it was a celebration of passion, creativity, and craftmanship. The timepieces showcased weren’t just marvels of engineering; they were stories waiting to be worn. Whether a seasoned collector or a curious enthusiast, everyone left with a shared sense of wonder and excitement, eagerly awaiting what next year’s event will bring.

The front side of all the three Reverso variants, showcases the brand’s iconic Reverso One dial, featuring a sleek rectangular design with black stylized Arabic numerals set against a pristine white mother-of-pearl background. Gold bracket-like corner details and hands add a touch of sophistication. This perfectly balanced and refined look seamlessly complements the intricate and elegant tropical motifs that wrap around the case sides and fully embellish the reverse side of the watch. The Precious Garden collection takes a tropical turn with the Birds of Paradise, a symbol of freedom and joy. This vibrant and eye-catching design encircles the delicate mother-of-pearl dial, highlighting its exquisite beauty. The creation of the birds and foliage required 19 different colors, meticulously applied to achieve the stunning effect.

Beneath the vibrant enamel lies a layer of 24-carat gold leaf, lending texture and exceptional brilliance to the orange and golden tones. Drawing inspiration from the tropical Art Deco style of the 1920s and 1930s, this masterpiece embodies a rich, historical aesthetic. Crafting this piece involves 60 hours of enameling using the grand feu champlevé technique, and an additional 65 hours of gem setting, utilizing snow and grain-setting techniques. The model commemorates 20 years since the introduction of the first 9R-family Spring Drive movements. While the dial pattern echoes other “lion” watches, Grand Seiko employed a new technique to achieve a shifting hue effect based on viewing angles. This innovative approach involves layers of nanoscale film applied through a patented process called “Optical Multilayer Coating,” utilizing PVD (physical vapor deposition). The subdials, also in the same color, feature sunburst finishes to create a striking contrast.

Named after Egeria, the Roman water nymph, Égérie is Vacheron Constantin’s famous exclusive women’s collection. Evoking classic temperament and drawing inspiration from Haute Couture, Égérie features elegant, pleated designs on the dial. Originally introduced in 2003 with a curvaceous, tonneau-shaped case and slanted Arabic numerals, the collection has evolved since then. The new Égérie moon phase, launched in collaboration with Yiqing Yin in 2020, further enhances the collection’s style credentials in Haute Horlogerie for women, reflecting Yin’s creative universe.

This ‘Watches & Wonders 2024, two watches have emerged from the collaborative effort between Vacheron Constantin and its “One of Not Many” talent, Yiqing Yin. One of them is a concept watch that blends Haute Horlogerie, Haute Couture, and Haute Parfumerie, while the other is an exclusive limited edition of 100 pieces, featuring Yiqing Yin’s name engraved on the caseback.
