The Versatile Navitimer GMT and Automatic 41

The Navitimer has a rich history intertwined with aviation’s rise. Since its debut in 1952, it has been essential equipment for pilots, thanks to its circular slide rule for critical calculations.

Breitling had embarked on redesigning the Navitimer line in 2022, initially focusing on the original chronograph model. This effort has now evolved to introduce two new streamlined versions: a GMT model and a three-hand Automatic model, both crafted in a universally wearable 41-mm size. The new GMT and Automatic versions of the Navitimer retain the iconic aesthetic of the collection while removing the chronograph function. This refinement results in a balanced dial layout, with the central 24-hour scale on the GMT and a clean face on the Automatic model, ensuring that the intricate slide rule remains a focal point and enhances the overall visual appeal of the timepieces. This Navitimer collection has been refined with a notched bezel for a modern touch and alternating polished and brushed finishes for visual depth. The watches also feature comfortable alligator leather straps and bracelets with seamless butterfly clasps for added convenience.

This collection offers a diverse palette of dial colors, including black, blue, silver, ice blue, and green, complemented by stainless steel or 18k red gold cases. Additionally, there is a two-tone variant available ONLY for the Automatic model. The full-gold versions are labeled Origins, indicating responsibly sourced gold in alignment with the Swiss Better Gold Association’s environmental and social standards.

The Self-Winding Cosmonaute B12

In 1962, astronaut Scott Carpenter asked Breitling to modify the Navitimer for space use, leading to the creation of the Cosmonaute with a 24-hour dial & made history as the first Swiss wristwatch in space during his mission on May 24, 1962.

To commemorate Breitling’s 140th anniversary, a limited edition of the 24-hour Cosmonaute is being released. The main update is the inclusion of a self-winding chronograph movement, the Breitling manufacture caliber B12, designed for everyday wear. This limited edition, restricted to 250 pieces, is exclusively available through Breitling’s online and in-store boutiques. It is only available in an 18k red-gold case, a striking deep green dial with golden numerals, and a black alligator leather strap for a luxurious touch.

The open caseback reveals the contrasting oscillating weight capping the B12 movement. offering approximately 70 hours of power reserve and comes with a 5-year warranty. The caseback is engraved with “One of 250” to signify its exclusivity and showcases the watch’s remarkable history: “First Swiss Wristwatch in Space/Navitimer Cosmonaute May 24, 1962.”
